Ultramarine Engineers & Analysts Assists in Environmental Remidiation of the Prestige Tanker off the coast of Spain
Houston, Texas -- April 2003

Ultramarine Engineers & Analysts has been contracted to investigate the feasibility of lowering
confinement structures to stop the leaking of oil from the two halves of the "Prestige" oil tanker.
The tanker broke apart and sank on November 19, 2002 off the coast of Spain. The resulting two
halves of the tanker came to rest on the seafloor in 3800 meters of water.

Ultramarine will be responsible for the analysis of the confinement structure solution. The
proposal would involve the construction and deployment of two massive steel containment structures,
each over half the size of the tanker. Ultramarine would then provide the feasibility of lowering
these structures from drillships using their MOSES marine simulation software.

Ultramarine was selected to work on this high profile remediation effort due to the strength of
its MOSES simulation package. MOSES is quickly able to determine harmonic resonances of the
mass-spring system and wave period, as well as determining the forces on the drillships, confinement
structures, and even the lines due to the high order resonance forces. Additionally, MOSES has the
most advanced multiple body time domain analysis engine currently available for marine simulation.
